This scarf was brought to you by…

This scarf owes its entire existence to the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters’ Guild.
1. I bought the yarn (Manos Silk Blend in “Lava Purple” – scrumptious) from the Little Red Mitten’s booth at the 2010 K-W Knitters’ Fair in September, which was organized by the Guild.
2. I bought the pattern — Laura Chau of CosmicPluto Knits’ “Just Enough Ruffles” — at a Guild meeting.
3. I was inspired to make this scarf last week after seeing my friend wearing one she had made. This friend is a Guild member, and in fact, she was part of the program committee that invited Laura Chau to come speak to us last year.
4. I bought the needles — long Hiya Hiya 5.5 mm circs — from Shall We Knit? The proprietor, Karen, is a Guild member.
This was a fast and very satisfying project. I’ll be making this scarf again sometime as a gift, I feel quite certain.

And for today’s Links of the Day, in honour of Remembrance Day, I suggest you listen to this week’s Vinyl Café podcast, and view this very moving list/map of Canada’s soldiers who have fallen in Afghanistan (thanks to Tara H. for pointing out the latter link).

About Lisa

My name is Lisa, and I used to have a mostly knitting blog called 42 Main Street, at I became a mom in January 2010, and suddenly I wasn't knitting very much any more. Then Blogger stopped supporting FTP and I couldn't keep blogging at that address any more. Although I originally planned to start a new 42 Main Street on WordPress, somehow that identity didn't really fit any more, so I decided it was "Time to Reboot," and that's why you'll find me here now:
