See, it’s not all scarves all the time around here

Yes, sometimes I do other crafty things besides knitting. This little Ikea chest of drawers was a gift from Kristen when she moved some years back. It was unfinished and I used to keep office and craft supplies in it — crayons, colouring pencils, staples, etc. I painted it last summer using craft paints, and repurposed it for Sam’s room. I used my label-maker (OMG I love that thing) to identify the contents; hats, bibs, socks, and shoes/booties. Such a simple thing, but I am just so pleased with how it came out.

And while painting an unfinished chest of drawers hardly constitutes a “hack,” today’s Link of the Day, the Ikea Hacker blog, is full of great ideas for ways of customizing the ubiquitous. Check it out if you’re not familiar with it — much ingenuity is contained within!

About Lisa

My name is Lisa, and I used to have a mostly knitting blog called 42 Main Street, at I became a mom in January 2010, and suddenly I wasn't knitting very much any more. Then Blogger stopped supporting FTP and I couldn't keep blogging at that address any more. Although I originally planned to start a new 42 Main Street on WordPress, somehow that identity didn't really fit any more, so I decided it was "Time to Reboot," and that's why you'll find me here now:
